Saving for College

Jax has recently got the hand/eye coordination down for inserting coins into his little bank.  Anytime he finds change laying around he MUST immediately put it in his bank.

Simple joys

It's the simple joys in life.  The other day, Jax and I sat on the front porch sorting through the days mail delivery.  I get a set of return address labels printed by the March of Dimes about once every few weeks and Jax had fun carefully placing them on my arm.  But notice he segregated them by sticker type on my upper and lower arm.  He's a smart cookie!

Camping with Jax, round 2

As summer feels like it's slipping away from us, we decided to go last minute camping this past weekend.  I found a campground on the west shore of Lake Tahoe in Sugar Pine Point State Park.  We were pleasantly surprised with the area, the campground and even our campsite.  Friday evening was wonderful and Jax had a blast kicking around in the dirt.  But when in came time for night-night, it all went to heck.  Jax did NOT want to sleep on his sleeping pad, and just plan was not happy.  All in all, we each got about 1.5 to 2 hours of sleep.  Ahhh!  We decided to cut our camping trip short and head home after some beach time (which was awesome).  Everyone slept well Saturday night in their own bed.  Camping with Jax, round 2 didn't go so well, but we're determined to try again!

This footage was sent to us at work today.  It was filmed by a USGS employee, but you don't have to be a water science nerd to appreciate this kind of amazing environmental process.

Random Jax updates

In no particular order........

Has had and recovered from hand, foot and mouth disease.

Got his third haircut and did great.

Is currently recovering from some kind of stomach flu....yuck.

Talks, a lot.  He's even putting a few short sentences together....i.e. "I run", "Daddy go varuum varumm",  "I sit"

Is hit or miss on being a good boy at church. I've found we need to sit in the center of the pew with people on either side of us to drastically minimize the chances of a runaway.

We've taken to spending late Sunday afternoons/early evenings at Lake Tahoe.  Jax is finally warming  up to the water (which if you've ever felt Tahoe, is really quite saying something). 

He loves wearing hats.  Thank God!  He has an orange baseball hat he wearing mostly at school and he, 9 times out of 10, puts it on backwards.

We've never really been able to get Jax to sit still.  Ever.  He's never liked watching TV for more than about 1.5 minutes....but then again, we've never pushed the TV thing either, which is fine by me.  But I've caught him sitting on the couch twice in the last week!  Once with Logan watching a Baby Einstein movie & again while having a snack & watching the Olympics.  It was actually kinda cute seeing him just sit still for a moment!
