Summer sickness
Nothing much has changed since I was a kid. If I alter my daily patterns, such as eating, exercise and sleep, it will soon catch up with me and I"ll be sick. It's no fun being sick in the summer!

Pennsylvania showers
After a quick turn-around in Reno, Justin and I flew to Pennsylvania for a weekend of wedding festivities. Krista, my maid-of-honor, came for the weekend too! I had trial runs on my hair from Aunt Becky, dress rehearsals, we picked out readings for the ceremony, met with Fr. Harry, ate at the rehearsal dinner restaurant, had my cousin Adian's b-day party, visited the church, attended a bridal shower and visited the reception barn! What a packed weekend!

Alive and sweating...
Yup, I'm on the move again. Flagstaff last week, Carson City for the weekend, Phoenix this week...and Pennsylvania this coming weekend! But before the fun this weekend, I have to get through 2 more days of sweating more than I've ever sweat before. Ground water sampling in Phoenix, about 105 degrees and considerable humidity from the monsoons. I learned something new about myself on the first day out...I sweat from my chin. Who sweats from their chin, seriously?

Justin's birthday toy
Saturday was Justin's birthday! I got home late Friday night (10:15pm) and Friday morning saw us driving to Reno to rent...wait for it...yup...a Harley!
We drove up to Lake Tahoe over the Mt. Rose highway and stopped at Sand Harbor to hang out with our Hawaii friend, Laure. Then continued all around the lake, stopping at Sunnyside for some refreshments on the deck overlooking the lake.
Sunday we headed south from our house through Carson Valley with our friend Mark. We all stopped at in Genoa for a late breakfast. Justin's smile was really didn't falter all weekend long! Happy Birthday, Justin!

Mary Lake, Flagstaff, AZ
I'm in Flagstaff this week for meetings on a 3-series report that we have cooking up with the Southwest Principal Aquifers group. Monday I flew into Flagstaff on a small prop plane that only had 9 rows of seats (2 seats on each side). Tuesday night we got some chinese take-out and drove up to Mary Lake for a picnic dinner.

Day trip
We visited Virginia City on Sunday and toured through St. Mary of the Mountains, the 1st Catholic church in Nevada. They have an awesome museum in the basement of the church.

A day at the beach
Soon-to-be Mom and Dad Huntington came to visit for the 4th of July weekend. We all went down to Mills Park Friday night to watch the fireworks and spent Saturday afternoon on the beach at Tahoe. This was the 1st time their dog, Shadow, had been around water. Even being coaxed into the water with some fried chicken didn't make it worth it for her!

A favorite
I was looking through some pictures the other day and I came across this one of my family a few years ago at Christmas. It's one of my favorite more recent family photos. Now if I could just figure a way to photoshop Justin and Joel in there!

Great Basin Basket
We started participating in the CSA (community supported agriculture) program in Carson City. Basically you give a local farmer a bunch of money and once a week you go pick up a box of locally grown fruit and veggies. We got our first box this week. There's a few green leafy things in there I've never heard of, more-or-less eaten, so it will be an adventure.

Mama's birthday
Today is my Mom's birthday. She got to spend the day up at camp, and I believe enjoy the afternoon out on the lake! So jealous! I hope your day was wonderful, Mom! (And as relaxing as this hammock we found last year!) Love ya!
