Day dreaming

So I'm out on the foothills of Eagle Valley last week with a glass bottle, complete with data sticker in one hand and a black Sharpie in the other. I was mindlessly writing site IDs, dates, times, water temperatures and recharge elevations on my bottles. After about the 3rd bottle, I looked down to notice instead of writing 6/13/08, I was writing 10/13/08...I guess October is on the mind!

Summer nights

Recently Justin, Willy and I have taken to riding our bikes around the neighborhood in the evenings. I'm not much of an off road biker, or a hill climber for the matter. This is what I look like after Justin makes me ride up a really steep hill! Notice the smoke in the valley too...can't hardly see anything, especially not the mountains...

Libby turns 50,000

I rolled Libby over 50,000 this week. I remember when I first bought her in 2005 and she only had 23,000!

Smoke

The last I heard there are 840 wildfires burning in California...mostly northern California. Since the wind blows east, we get the smoke. Check out the difference in these pictures. I took the one on the left in April (the poopy plant with a view, if you recall) and the one on the right yesterday when I was at the same place to sample my well. Insane.

Sarah & Mark unite

Saturday Justin and I attended the wedding of our friends Mark and Sarah up at South Lake Tahoe. Aside from it taking 2 hours to get there because of horrible traffic and missing 1/2 of the ceremony, it was a very nice day. The reception was just across the street from Tahoe. Congratulations Mark and Sarah!

Back home

I made it back from Tucson last night. Long week, but it was fun and I got to see a lot of new country I've never seen before. I can now add 2 national wildlife refuges and 2 national parks to my list of pictures and signs. My camera got accidentally shipped to Pennsylvania, so I have to wait till my colleague downloads his camera on Monday before I show you the visuals. Glad to be home...I wasn't ready for that 100 degree weather!

Off to Tucson, AZ

My blog will have a dry spell for the next week while I travel to Tucson for work. I have the beautiful 6am flight out of Reno tomorrow morning to Vegas, then continue to drive to Tucson. My colleague and I will be hiking to remote swamps/ponds to sample the water quality for general water quality and the presence of a fungus that attaches itself to the skin of fogs and suffocates them. This is my 3rd year participating in this project. The last 2 years we were in Yosemite, now were practically going to the Mexico border. See ya in a few days!
