Walker River rock landscaping

This weekend we continued our landscaping adventures by acquiring and implementing river rocks. We decided that river rocks were the style we wanted to boarder the flower beds in the front yard and we are going to use some bigger rocks in the back yard. Saturday Justin and I jumped in our prospective vehicles and headed south in search of natures natural rounded rocks. The Carson River didn't prove helpful because most of the shores are sandy. So we continued south into California (about an hour total) to the Walker River. Then we found the mother load...Check it out!

Front yard gardening

Spring is about here and Justin and I, as happy homeowners, have started thinking about how we'd like to make some changes to our house...both inside and out. Easter weekend we began with the front yard. Justin trimmed the large pine tree so we can now walk under it (which ended up with enough branches to require a full truck load deposit at the dump) and we both worked on the front flower beds. Notice Justin sculpted a new wavy border line for the flower bed.

St. Patrick's Day in Butler

Fortunately the annual Green St. Patrick's Day outing fell over the weekend I was in Virginia. Friday after class I drove through 5 hours of cold, dark down pouring rain to get home to Butler. Saturday morning Aunt Janet and Uncle Ted came over for brunch while we discussed the bridal shower to be held at Aunt Janet and Uncle Ted's house. Then Mom, Dad and I went to visit the cake lady and ordered the wedding cake. We drove around to a few bed & breakfast places in town for alternatives to the hotel when friends and relatives come to town for the wedding. And then finally Saturday night was the St. Patrick's day festivities.

10th anniversary aluminum party

Justin and I attended the 10th wedding anniversary party of our friend's Jeremie and Margo a few weeks ago before I left for Virginia. Since by the books the 10th anniversary means gifts of aluminum, all the party guests used their creative talents to manufacture hats made our of aluminum for the evening. For example............

NWRA 2008

The 1st week of March Justin and I attended the 2008 annual Nevada Water Resources Association Conference in Mesquite, NV. Justin went on a field trip of the Lower Carbonate System, I presented a poster on my work at Lake Tahoe and helped coordinate the 5K "Run for the Water" fun run.

I am east

Sorry, it's been a while. I've been super busy. We made it back from Las Vegas and Mesquite, spent the short weekend at home and now I'm in Reston, VA for 2 weeks. Talk about on the go! I have many pictures from the last few weeks, but that will have to wait till tomorrow, cause I'm tired. I ate my spiral mac & cheese and drank my glass of pinot noir out of a juice glass and that's about all I can handle for today! More updates after my first day of MODFLOW training tomorrow!
