Harley Davidson Crew

Who would have ever thought that I would one day be a member of a Harley-riding crew? hahaha! Saturday was beautiful here in Carson so Justin and I went on "the round-up". Or so it seemed. We left our house on the Harley, went to Mark and Sarah's house where they jumped on their Harley...
...and all 4 of us went over to Kelly and Ashley's house to get them. Except we had to work on their bike for a bit to get it into a safe riding state, but the guys figured it out!
Justin and Mark are on the hood of the car with a Harley "fix-it" book while the ladies watch the progress. Classic picture, it makes me laugh.

A sign?

The last few days have been a little uncomfortable at work. Last week I had a run-in with another co-worker that was not happy with me...and he/she really let me know it. It was VERY unprofessional, and actually quite hurtful. Not only were this person's feeling about the issue explained (more like yelled), but also he/she revealed his/her opinion of my personal character. It was not a fun experience and I can't stop thinking about it. What makes a person act out like that? The issue at hand did not warrant this behavior at all, not at least for any normal person. Did it really never occur to this person that what he/she did was not called for and should therefore apologize?
On my drive to work this morning I saw this amazing bank of clouds and the sun rays shining out from behind it. Was this my sign from God that it's alright and I should just forgive this person and move on? Probably so. I guess I really have forgiven them...it just continues to be uncomfortable to pass them in the hallway and not have them say hello, but instead either look away or scowl. I feel like I'm walking on eggshells at work and I don't like it.

And some pictures from my second and third weeks in Dixie. I'm home now, and happy to be here. I get 2 weeks at home before I'm off to Denver for a training class. Jena is on the move!

Hydros unite

My friend Ellen, who I went to grad school with in Reno, was back in town this weekend for a visit. Also, Sesh, another former hydro was in town. Remember Sesh, the photographer for our second wedding? So there was a gathering of the many hydros at Margaret and Connie's house for a party. It was great to see both Ellen and Sesh!

Strange relations

What do Virginia City, NV, a Harley-Davidson Road King and sheep balls have in common?

Isn't that the craziest question ever?!? Well typically they have nothing in common, except for this weekend. Saturday Justin and I and our friend Kelly road up to Virgina City on our Harley's for a St. Patrick's day celebration.

Every year Virginia City sells "Mountain Oysters" for St. Patrick's day....similar to Rocky Mountain Oysters, if you've heard of those. Just in case, for those that don't know, Rocky Mountain Oysters are bull (cow) balls, and the related Mountain Oysters are sheep balls. Literally. I know. Sick. I've been told they are deep fried and seriously tasty...I'll take their word for it. But you wouldn't believe the line to get some!?! By the time we walked up the road to window shop and came back they had run out of Mountain Oysters and were packing up to go home! I don't know why St. Patrick's Day brings out these delicacies as I know a thing or two about the Irish. Nevada is a bit strange sometimes. Note the horrible pun on the banner above Main St. in Virginia City.

Dixie, week 1

A pictoral representation of my last week I had at work. All I can say is...INSANE. Leaving again tomorrow morning for week 2. Can't hardly wait.

Arenacross 2009

Saturday night I attended my third Reno Arenacross event. I should get an award! Just kidding, I enjoyed the races. What made it better this year was ear plugs!
The video on the right are some Air Force stunt guys. They were a big crowd pleaser.

My new favorite band

Friday night, Justin, myself, Sarah and Mark went up to North Lake Tahoe for a Split Lip Rayfield concert at the Crystal Bay Club. Awesome little venue and an even more amazing bluegrass band. Although Justin and I were not familiar with this band, Mark and Sarah have been fans of Split Lip Rayfield for many years.

Ok, so check it out. 3 man band, one banjo, one mandolin and one upright bass. Take a closer look at the bass...it's a gas tank from an old 1970s truck equipped with a single string: a weed-eater string! Now watch how this guy can play it! Just insane...
