Mom's visit

Mom's visit to Carson City was a lot of fun! The days flew by, but we got a bunch of wedding stuff done and had a great time together. We worked on assembling wedding invitations and got quite a few done. Friday was a fun girl's day that started with pedicures, french manicures, breakfast and shopping! I found shoes for my wedding dress just in time for my alterations appointment, and Mom helped me pick out my veil/headpiece. So my wedding day attire is now complete! woohoo! We also got Mom her dress for the wedding. Sunday all three of us took a driving tour that stopped in Virginia City and then at Lake Tahoe.

Mom's here!

My Mom fly in last night to spend a long weekend with Justin and I. Although it was a long day for her (27 hours actually with the time change from the eastern time zone) and having to sprint from 1 terminal to another in Phoenix, she's here safe and sound. And she even made it with over an hour left of my birthday. :o) I only have to work a half day today and then Mom and I are going to start assembling wedding invitations. Woohoo! I have them all printed out (that's a whole other story) and ready for assembly.

Today marks 27 years of my existence on this Earth. Pretty crazy. Thanks to all those who sent me cards and happy wishes! Check out this fancy address I got! Talk about some talent!

New deck table...with cushions!

Recently, some friends gave us an outdoor table and chairs that they didn't want any more. We brought it home and with Justin's plan, we made new cushions for the chairs. Well, really all I did was help pick out and buy the materials...Justin made them all! Check 'em out!

L: Before the cushion, and after R: Table for 8!

Kimberly, Idaho biker dudes

Justin is in Kimberly, Idaho this week working with the world renowned evapotranspiration researcher, Dr. Rick Allen. As you can see, Justin and Dr. Allen get along quite well.

I remember when...

...I used to say I was bored. Strange how I almost have no recollection of what that feels like, though.

Engagement Encounter

Last weekend Justin and I attended a Catholic Engagement Encounter retreat. It is a required class to be married in the Catholic Church. Although it was a very long weekend driving back and forth to Reno on Friday, Saturday and Sunday, we both felt it was very beneficial. And we made some new friends.

da dat da-da, da dat da-da...6 months from today...

Godfather Eakin

On Friday I got to eat lunch with the one and only Tom Eakin. Super cool. For those of you that don't know him, he is basically one of the father's of Nevada basin water budgets. He was working for the USGS back in the 1930's and published tons of reports on Nevada basins and made the first crack at a scientific water budget, both for surfacewater and ground water in these basins. Amazingly, even with all the advanced scientific techniques available today, many of the numbers he came up with still stand pretty darn solid. And yes, he is old...probably in his 90s. But still sharp as a whip!

Rooting out the root

As the backyard landscaping continues we've been finding many many roots. Check out the size of this one that ran the entire length of our walkway we're installing! This is only half of it, so imagine it double this length!

Sorry the pics are a little blurry.
