Officially walking

I've been told little kids make great development progress while on vacation...I'd have to say that's true.  Jax has also expanded his vocabulary to include "bird-ie". 

The Big Island 2012

Aloha!  This is part one of a two part Hawaii trip.  Equipped with cherrios, yogurt, crayons and books, we took the leap of faith to depart on a 5:30am flight to Kona on the Big Island.  Although we had our moments, all in all it was a pretty darn smooth trip with a 16 months old!  After loading up our mini van, we hit the fancy west coast Marriott Resort, which is where the AGU remote sensing conference was being held.  Holy moly that place is nice!  Pretty funny to see some of those old sicentiest guys in their floral shirts and Tevas, hahaha.  Jax and I got to poach the nice resort while Justin attended sessions (he only skipped out a few times!).

Mara's 2nd bday

It's so cool that we have some many friends with young kids.  It definitely makes for a fun time when we get together, especially now that Jax is getting old enough to play with the other kiddos.  Last weekend our friends and neighbors' daughter, Mara, turned 2, and she had a princess party. 

 Mara's Mom, Melissa, made this cake.  Isn't it amazing?

Jax's new thing is giving kisses.  Logan is happy with the newly learned skill. 

Chocolate Pretzel Buttons

These are my new favorite thing!  I've starting poking around on the website/online bulletin board called pinterest.  This is a great place to find all kinds of super creative ideas for almost everything.  I've found great decorating ideas, storage ideas, and many many recipes. 

Like these:

Start with a hersey's kiss on a square pretzel.  Bake at 350 degrees for 3 minutes, or just until the kisses start to melt.

Take them out, let cool slightly.  Then use a drinking straw to push an M&M into the center.  Throw in fridge for a little while to finish cooling and enjoy.  Yum!

We're experimenting with food in a bowl and a spoon in hand.  He actually gets the idea...for a little while. 

Then it turns into play time--which ends up with bath time.
