Green, Huntington

Jena Green and Justin Huntington were united in marriage Oct. 11 at St. Wendelin Catholic Church in Butler. The Rev. Harry Bielewicz officiated. A reception followed at Armstrong Farms in Cranberry Township.The bride is the daughter of Dennis and Joan Green of Butler. Parents of the bridegroom are Ronald and Sharon Huntington of Las Vegas. The honor attendant was Krista Prokosch of Minneapolis. Bridesmaids were Melissa Green of Dickinson, Tex.; Lacey Geibel of Chicora, and Angie Alwine of Butler. Flower girls were Ella Mikula and Sadie Mikula, both of York.Performing the duties of best man was Kelly Cameron of Las Vegas. Ushers were Robert Green of Dickinson, and Trevor Atkin and Brandon Atkin, both of Las Vegas. Ring bearer was Lucas Green of Dickinson, Tex.The bride is a 1999 graduate of Butler High School and a 2003 graduate of Northland College. She received a master's degree in 2005 from the University of Nevada, Reno. She is employed by the U.S. Geological Survey, Nevada Water Science Center in Carson City, Nev. The bridegroom is a 1993 graduate of Cimarron High School in Las Vegas and a 2000 graduate of the University of Nevada, Reno. He received a master's degree in 2003 from the University of Nevada, Reno. He is employed by the Nevada Department of Water Resources, State Engineer's Office, in Carson City. Following a honeymoon trip to Cancun, Mexico, the Huntingtons will make their home in Carson City.

Huntington Harley Chronicles-Placerville

Next installment of the Huntington Harley Chronicles is here! I forgot to add in the last edition the biking to dinner on Friday night. What a hoot!

Day three had a took us to Placerville, CA by way of highway 88 over Carson Pass and on the Mormon Emigrant Trail. What a beautiful ride!?! The only bummer was that the last few miles down the mountain it got hot, and I mean hot. Placerville was WAY too hot!!

Huntington Harley-south hills day

Day 2 of the Huntington Harley Chronicles began with Ron and Sharon getting a different bike. A little smaller and more comfortable.

We rode south into the California Alps stopping for some ice cream in Markleville. Then we went up over Monitor Pass into Walker for one of the best burgers ever and finally back north into Genoa for some refreshment.

Huntington Harleys-Tahoe day

Justin's parents are visiting this week, and they rented a Harley!

Thursday Justin and Ron rode up to Reno both on Justin's bike to pick up the rental. Talk about the biggest smiles ever on their faces as they rode away! We rode up to Tahoe and did a complete loop around the lake. Beautiful day!

I think it's safe to say that a good time was had by all!

Stumpjumper

Snowboarding season is over here at the foot of the Sierras, but mountain bike season is revving up. I've never been much of a mountain bikers. I was the girl with a big beefy mountain bike that only rode on the pavement. Yup, that's me. Justin loves mountain biking and we have some premier bike trails accessible from our front door. Soooooooooooooooo, Justin bought me my very own bike. Yes I did have one already, but it weighs about a hundred pounds and the shocks were pitiful. Now I have a stumpjumper!

Justin, me, Mark and Sarah went on a big ride last weekend for my maiden voyage. And a voyage it was! I have never, ever, ever rode on a trail like that. There were more rocks than dirt! Needless to say it was quite challenging to me, but the bike held up well as we were getting acquainted. As Justin tells me, now I have no excuse...

Uneventful

I don't have much to post about this weekend because I didn't do anything. Nope, nothing. I left work at lunchtime on Friday as I had an attack of the June flu. Who gets sick in the summer, seriously?

We did get to see Kelly Cameron...he came in with the night on Thursday (more like early Friday) and out again Friday afternoon headed for Vegas. Wait till you see him, he looks a little different! Sail safely, Kelly!

Biker Willy

It didn't take long after meeting Justin to find out that he wanted a Harley. He would also talk about how his Pappa Jack had a Harley and he would ride with him as a kid. I've seen the pictures. But also, Pappa Jack's dog would ride on the bike. Depending on the size of the dog, he would either ride in a side/back bag or in the sidecar. It really was quite cool.

So now Justin wants Willy to ride on the Harley sooooooooo bad....

But poor Willy just doesn't fit!!! Guess we need a sidecar.

Greg & Amanda

This weekend was my cousin, Greg's, wedding in Butler. I am so happy I was able to attend, and only wish Justin could have been here. Everything was beautiful. I will always think of Greg as being 10 years old, so it was kind of hard to see him up there in his tux saying his vows, but I'm so happy for them. They are so cute!

Greg and Amanda were high school sweethearts, attended the Seneca Valley senior prom together, and have done a just incredible job gutting, restructuring and refinishing our Pappy Cypher's home, which they bought and will be living in. Congratulations, Greg and Amanda, we wish you all the love in the world!

As you can probably tell, the whole family had a good time at the reception. "Dancing Queens we were" :o)

Childhood Memories

Thursday I made my way east across the states and am back home in Pennsylvania for the weekend. I had not seen my parents since our second wedding in Vegas. Pretty sure that's the longest I've gone without seeing them. It has been fantastic to be home, to spend time with my parents and see family. Everything is so green and lush right now too.

My task on Friday was to go through all the "junk" I had stored in boxes and bins up in the attic of the shed. Yup, the shed. So, I took a trip down memory lane before things got filtered into the donation bag, to see if anyone else in the family wants it pile or the trash bag.

And the most dear find....my SNUFFLE!!

It's worn, slightly off-white, and a little smelly from being in the bin for several years, but it's still my one and only Snuffle. Best friend a girl ever had!

Monumental

This week at work marks a place in my career I won't forget. Yesterday I walked into my office, sat down at my computer and typed in the ever-so-routine user name and password to log in.

Apon hitting enter, my high-powered computing machine returned to me the not-so popular "eeeeeeeeech" sound that means I did something wrong.

I paused......................cocked my head to the side, and pondered.

Then it hit me.

I am no longer known as jmgreen in the USGS computer world.

I am now................... jmhunt.

You know how hard it is to train your fingers to type almost your whole user name with your right hand instead of my previous left? Dang, this is gonna take some practice.

Engaged

I hear wedding bells! No, not me, I'm already married and that's a one time deal. But Justin and I's good friend Arun is!

Last night I got a call from Arun, who I had not talked to in quite a while and he said he just got back to Carson after a week vacation back home in Hyderabad, India. And he's engaged!

His finance's name is Sri Vidya and they will be getting married sometime in August or September. It was fascinating to hear their engagement story, here's a few pictures to illustrate.
