I usually don't go this long without posting. Sorry. The weeks have been flying by and although I've been doing some cool things, I find it hard not to wonder where in the heck has the time gone? I love planning trips/vacations, so I suppose my mind has been on the future trips in the coming months. The first one begins 4 weeks from yesterday when I fly down to Houston for a little Green family reunion and celebrate Luke's birthday (and partly mine). I'm looking forward to it and even had to log into Southwest Airlines yesterday to make sure the flight I booked was still on my account...why wouldn't it? I know, I just feel the need to check those things every now and again. Ya know, make sure all my ducks are still in a row. It's just a Jena thing.
In other news, I believe the refinance on Libby is finally complete. Stupidly Chase sent me the title last week instead of sending it to the new bank...after calling for instructions I was told to see a notary and have the lender changed and then send it to the new bank. Wrong. The notary chick sent me to the DMV...doh!! All in all, it wasn't bad. I was in and out of the DMV within 45 minutes with it all taken care of. I was, however, kinda upset that if Chase would have done as they were told, I would not have had to pay the $20 title change fee. Seriously, like they didn't take more than their share of my money in the 1-year+ that I was financed with them! End of story.
So as I attempt to do a round of blog viewing this fine Wednesday morning, as I do every morning, I am once again banned from viewing blogs on my office computer. Although, as you can tell, they forgot to block the log-in page where I post to the blog. They think they're so smart, ha! Anyway, I won't be able to view family and friend's blogs for an undisclosed period of time. I will, however, keep posting to mine!
Last weekend was the first time Justin and I hit the slopes since early January. The snow out here has really been non-existent for most of the "winter". Well, last week the good Lord finally dumped some snow on our mountains and we went snowshoeing/hiking to Justin's field sites and then hit Mt. Rose to remember what I learned before Christmas and try to make some more progress on staying upright on my board.
It was blowing and snowing in horizontal blizzard-like conditions. Riding the lifts up was the most scary part. Justin took me up a new lift, which goes up higher....up to just over 9,000 ft...and I couldn't see where the lift was going or see the ground for all the white blowing around. It's kinda what I might imagine the entrance of heaven to look like. I now know what "vertigo" really means. The slope was so steep and the wind/snow so fierce that I could not tell what direction the ski run went, where the ground was, or tell if I was moving or standing still! A few times I actually fell on my butt because I thought I was moving and I really wasn't! Not too may people were out that day, so at least I didn't have to worry about running into other skiers or boarders. But the BEST part of it all was that I could fall down over and over again and it didn't hurt!! That glorious white fluffy fluffy snow! Apparently some of my falls were pretty humorous...you'll have to talk with Justin about that. If he had not been in front of me, I would have ended up going over a cliff into the trees. I did make some progress in my snowboarding skills, just wish the slopes were always so soft and unpopulated! We plan to go back out this weekend...we got more snow earlier in the week.
Oh, and it took 2.5 hours to get home that day because they shut down the highway through Washoe Valley. People out here do NOT know how to drive in winter conditions. Got to use Libby's 4wheel drive though! She's quite the trooper!
