Merry Christmas 2012

I have lots of pictures to post from our Las Vegas Christmas, but for now, just this.

Santa Train

Before Christmas, we got to ride the Santa Train at the Nevada Railroad Museum.  It was a cold, cold day, but Jax seemed to really like the "Santa choo choo".

Our friends, Melissa, Mara, Quinn & Jason

The Polar Express

We all got to ride on The Polar Express a few weekends ago.  Very cool that we have something like this in our hometown.  Folks were driving over from Sacramento to ride it.  They passenger cars were all decorated up, they served hot chocolate and cookies, read the Polar Express book, and when we arrived at the North Pole we saw Santa's village and even took Santa on board.  Santa visited everyone and gave them a silver bell.  Pretty cool stuff, but all quite quickly--it was one hour, from start to finish.

The Little Mermaid

Our friend's daughter, Emily, was in the Children's Little Theater production of The Little Mermaid recently.  We all went to watch her perform and Jax really loved it.  He had no problem at all climbing up right next to Ariel and getting a picture!

Nevada Railroad Museum

A few weekends ago we visited the Nevada Railroad Museum right here in Carson City.  We drive past all the time and have never stopped.  A small, but still very cool exhibits are inside and we got a tour of some of the engines and cars in the garage.  We even managed a ride on the hand car!

                     Jax on the tracks!

Imagination takes over

I've read it to be true and now I see it in my own child.  Up until about age 2, kids are curious and play with toys to figure them out...but after age 2 the imagination kicks in and they create a world where their toys are active and alive.  Pretty fun to watch!

San Francisco 2012

We again made the trip over to San Francisco this year for the American Geophysical Union (AGU) conference.  This year Justin gave a poster presentation and I was there on vacation time to hang out in the city with Jax and Justin.  This was a whole new dynamic this year with Jax wanting to run around and check everything out on his own.  Nevertheless, we had fun, but were happy to come back over the hill to our comparatively quite Carson City.

Discovery Center

Last weekend we finally made the trip to the Reno Children's Discovery Center.  Jax liked it, to say the least.

2012 Ornaments

Following suite from my Aunt Kathy Green, I have taken to giving a Christmas ornament to each of my newphews and Godchildren each year.  They are always the same ornament with each child's name and the year painted on it.  This year I made the ornamanets from scrabble pieces.  Thank you Pinterest!

Meet my newest (or soon to be) Godson, Landon!
Uncle Rob and Aunt Melissa also get Jax an ornament...they are Jax's Godpartents too.  An official TX boot!

Terminology

Jax has his terms mixed up a little, but it's typically too funny to correct him!  Sorry for the potty language, but he seems to think that a "fart" is called "poop".  Please see for yourself...

Halloween 2012

We took the monkey theme as far as we could this fall.  Jax was the cutest little monkey for Halloween!  He and I dressed up to walk in the annual pumpkin parade at daycare where we parade around the community college campus trick or treating at all the college offices.  Jax really got into saying "tick or teet" and holding up his pumpkin.  Ahhh, so cute.  Justin and I also dressed up for trick or treat night.  Always fun.  We met up with some other friends and only went around our block, but managed to fill up Jax's bucket full of goodies.  He typically was the last little monkey to make it up to the door, but he generally kept right up with the pack.

Nevada Day 2012

The Nevada Day festivities in Carson City kicked off with the hot air balloons and one came right over our street!  Jax said "balloon high!"

Jax and Logan watching the parade.

That afternoon was Quinn's biday party.  He was Captain Hook and his sister, Mara, was Tinker Bell.
