the noses
A few hydro friends started a band called 'the noses'. They played at a coffee shop last weekend and I was extremely impressed at how good they were. Here's a pic of them...sorry, it's kinda bad quality.

Friday night I went to the Roxy (Martini/piano bar in the Eldorado casino) to say goodbye to my good friend Jenn. She, her husband John and daughter Sophia are moving to Spokane, WA on Monday (today). Jenn and I were officemates up at UNR...well until she went and graduated anyway. Here's a few pics from our night at the Roxy...this one is of Jenn and I.
Here's Justin and Brooke. Later Justin and I went out swing dancing to try out our new moves we've learned during lessons. We aren't too bad!
And here's myself, Jenn and Brooke.

Every other week or so I've been helping Justin with his fieldwork up on Mt. Rose and the Incline Creek area. Basically just collecting water samples from streams and servicing his self-engineered snowmelt buckets. Recently there's been so much snow up on the Mt. Rose site (his highest elevation site) that we've had to snowshoe in. Here's a picture of Justin and Willy standing just above his truck after sampling. The roadcuts are about 8-10 feet high!
So I am filling in a few gaps from last fall, before I became a blogger.
This is the poster my co-workers posted on my office door at the USGS advertising my thesis defense on October 13th. (Shera: Princess of Power!)
This is from GSA (Geological Society of America) conference in Salt Lake City, UT. My first poster presentation of my thesis work.

Although we didn't actually spend New Year's at camp, we were there until New Year's eve. Definately had some snow up there!
As I promised, here are a few pictures from the holidays back in PA.
And one from the Green family Christmas, which was on the 26th. Everyone is there except for the Burns family and Rob's family. Notice Brandon, Shawna and Denise are in the picture too!
I loved being home and seeing all the family over the holidays. But, after a whole lot of screwing around with Southwest Airlines I'm back in Nevada...this time not as a student. I just finalized with HR that I'll be starting full-time Jan 9th and my promotion has already gone into effect. Woohoo! Although, I just made my first payment on Libby and that kinda hurts. But I love her anyway!
Pictures from PA soon to come!
