Holiday with the Huntington's

Here's some more from our Christmas trip to Vegas. This also marks the first time Jax flew on an airplane. He did great on the way down but turned into special Jax on the trip back to Reno. Luckily it was only an hour flight!

Ron & Sharon had flowers blooming in their front yard on Christmas day. Hard to believe!
NanEvelyn loved being with Jax.

Jax got passed around as he met lots of family. Grandma Sharon & cousin Kelcie

L=Great Great Auntie Barbara and R= Great Aunt Kathy & Uncle Buddy and cousin Jessica

It was fun to see Justin's brothers all together.

AGU 2010

Last week we made the drive over the hill to San Francisco for the annual American Geophysical Union conference. Jax slept the entire ride over--all 4 hours!

Justin was an invited speaker...very sweet and Jax & I tagged along. I tried to visit a few posters, but mostly Jax & I walked around checking out downtown and doing some shopping. We put some quality miles on the stroller and logged time in the front carrier. Jax & I were able to see Justin speak and he did very well.

After going the conference for a few days we all rode a cable car over to Fisherman's Wharf for some clam chowder. We walked back through Chinatown...funny we were the tallest people on the street!

In Memory of Josh Lynn

Recently we tragically lost a friend of ours. He wasn't a super close friend, but a friend none-the-less. I met Josh at St. Teresa's church here in Carson several years ago when we was selling handmade nativity sets. He explained to me that he had worked in Nicaragua helping local residents at a saw mill. My cousin Manon had also worked in Nicaragua and it turns out Josh & Manon not only knew each other, but had lived in the same rustic house down there!

Justin and I knew both knew Josh. A good friend of ours, Keith, was Josh's best friend since junior high. Both Keith and Josh came to Justin's weekend mountain biking/camping/bachelor party.

This is Josh on the left and Ian on the right. Ian is now my cousin Manon's husband, whom she also met while in Nicaragua.

A poem that Josh wrote:
The bright and shiny things of spring
realize with a gleam in my eye
Are for living, laughing, loving
And feeling the wind in our hair
What a joyous caprice
The birds in the trees and weeds at our knees
And the smells of the season
As we watch the sunset
Turn into Dawn

We'll miss you, Josh! May God's angels meet you at the gates.

It wasn't me!

Cookie maker

My Dad always used to call me "the cookie maker" because I loved to bake cookies. I found that I was kinda good at it. Chocolate chip were my best cookie. Lately I've been trying to get some Christmas cookie baking done, but Jax doesn't always cooperate. But alas, I found a work-a-round! He likes being held--and that front baby carrier seems to do the trick to keep him happy while I get to keep baking...

...although he tends to end up wearing a little of whatever I'm making!

Jax and the big man

Last week we attended the Big Brother program Christmas party. Santa made an appearance and somehow he knew Jax was there. Jax's name was called and he got a personalized gift from the big man himself!

Active boy

I swear--Jax has to be the cutest kid alive!

Strong neck

Jax is growing and developing so fast! His neck is doing awesome these days. He's outgrown the newborn sized diapers and is dipping into his 0-3 month clothes. This may be the last time he can wear the monkey shirt...the monkey is getting tight!

We were at the doctor this week for his 2 month appointment and Jax now weighs 9lbs and 4 oz. Almost double his birth weight!

Belated Thanksgiving

I'm a little behind on blogging. We had Thanksgiving dinner over at our friends' Mark and Sarah's house. Here's what it looked like.

Here's the last of the pictures from my parent's visit. It was so nice having them here to meet Jax & spend time with us. Thanks Mom & Dad!

Jax at the Tracks

I've never really stopped to walk around in Truckee, CA--if you get the chance I'd recommend it. Very cool little spot.

Mom, Dad, Jax and I drove up last week because we were told there is a restaurant named after Jax (we'd like to think so). And it's true! We stopped by 'Jax at the Tracks'. It's a cool little diner right next to the railroad tracks.

Bodie

Justin took last friday off work so that we all could go on a road trip to Bodie, CA. It was a beautiful drive up to chilly Bodie, which is a ghost mining town that sits just above 8,000 ft. It was a really interesting walk through the old town. Very cool.

Irish Lullaby

This is a video of my Dad singing a very special song to Jax. It makes me cry every time I watch it. I only wish my Grandpa Green could have been alive to sing this to me when I was a baby. I love you Dad!

Spooner Lake

My Mom and Dad are here to visit and to spend time with Jax. It's been great having them here helping out. We've also been able to get out and about to see some fall sites. This was a hike around Spooner Lake up near Lake Tahoe. Very pretty day!

First bubba

Jax had his first bubba a week or so ago. He is definitely not opposed to the bottle--he may actually prefer it...

Fall in northern Nevada

Jax and I have been getting out for a walk almost everyday. Fall is my favorite time of year and Jax and I have been trying to capture a little bit of fall in Carson City. Along the way we stop by the park and maybe even Starbucks with Sarah and Logan.

Happy Halloween

Grandma & Grandpa Green sent Jax his Halloween outfit and he even went to a costume party! Jax and Logan were the highlight of the party. :o)

Like Father, Like Son

Dress up!

Every day Jax and I get up, we nurse and then he gets cleaned up for the day. Each time I put his outfit on for the day I can't help but take a picture...he's so cute!! For the most part he is out of the preemie cloths and into the newborn clothes. A few things are still big on him, but I do believe Jax is starting to gain a little weight! woohoo!

Bouncing vs. Swinging

Jax loves his bouncer--the swing, not so much. Maybe in time...

To be as big as Dad

One comment everyone has been making about Jax is how big his hands and feet are. I think he takes after his Dad on this one...he's just got some growing to do to catch up!
